What are the different types of Corsets

There are a number of different types of corsets and we wanted to cover off on two of those, there are the fully boned and the not fully boned corsets.

Fully Boned Corsets

The fully boned ones are made of steel that runs throughout the corset. The bone in this case is what gives the corset its frame (read up on the History of Lingerie ). The bone is what supports the desired shape and it prevents the corset’s material from shrinking when it is washed or when it is stored clumsily. Steel bones are of two varieties, the flat steel boning and the boning where the steel is spiral. Spiral boning is somewhat flat but it is thicker than the flat boning. Spiral steel boning can easily bend in both directions and thus the reason it is used more on curved parts or where support is mostly needed. The flat boning bends in only one direction. Metal boning is not very suitable for a bridal corset because it is not comfortable and you do not want to have a long day on your wedding day, especially when you are making your bride speech.

Non-Fully Boned Corset

The not fully boned PVC corset is mainly made of plastic and cable ties. Plastic bones are not the best as they are not strong enough for tight lacing but it is the one of the best when you are looking at the cost. It is cheap. Cable ties are also a good material for boning. They are flexible and rigid. These non-fully boned corsets are readily available, you can buy them from most lingerie shops, and you can get them in so many colors. They are machine washable and you can dry them in a dryer on low heat. They do not rust, are mold-proof and they are not easily damaged. They are the best bridal lingerie for when making a wedding day corset since they are comfortable to the body and you want to be comfortable on your wedding day, and the real benefit is you do not need to look like a lingerie model to wear one.

Reed Corset

Another material that you can use to make your bridal corset is reeds. You can dry your own reeds or order some from a company that deals with basket making. These reeds are placed on a boning channel and then sewed onto the fabric. These reeds are cheap and you can still buy them online. The problem with this boning is that it can be problematic to wash and dry. The reeds can form molds and spoil your wedding day corset, talk more with you lingerie party planner at your lingerie party before selecting this corset and your lingerie brand.

Reed Boned Corset

Whatever corset you choose, make sure it is comfortable, is easily washable and does not need special treatment when washing you want to make sure it does not turn out looking like a costume or give your guests any costume ideas for their next roleplay evening.
